This position serves as Supply Technician for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Loma Linda Health care System.

Base pay range

$47,019.00 / yr - $61,119.00 / yr

Responsibilities

• Provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
• Maintain stock at primary and secondary inventory locations for all clinical and administrative services.
• Monitor expiration dates, rotate stock to limit outdates, and remove items from use as required by outdates.
• Support managers in checking inventory for stock identified for recalled items and hazard alerts.
• Ensure critical supplies are appropriately monitored and controlled, resolving deviations when possible.
• Perform daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule to enable timely replenishment orders.
• Distribute items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory systems such as GIP.
• Deliver supplies in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
• Clean assigned secondary areas (shelves and bins) in accordance with aseptic principles as published in infection control guidelines, local SOPs, and Joint Commission standards as scheduled.
• Unpack and uncrate supplies from shipping cartons and store supplies and material in main / primary inventory areas.
• Store items according to established guidelines using a computerized inventory system to ensure sterility and data integrity of the inventory management system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work Schedule : Thursday through Monday, 12 : 00pm to 8 : 30pm.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement (11 / 07 / 2025). Time-In-Grade requirements apply to current Federal employees and other categories as described in the original posting. You may qualify based on your experience and / or education as described below :

GS-5 Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation. Examples include providing supplies and materials to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials.

Education : Four years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Or a combination of education and experience beyond 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. If qualifying by combination, your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required.

Experience will be evaluated on Competencies including Attention to Detail, Customer Service (Clerical / Technical), Reasoning, Technical Competence, Technology Application.
