Job descriptionMember of interdisciplinary team providing and managing patient care using nursing process. Promotes evidence-based practice through protocols and procedures. Assesses patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment. Develops individualized care plans collaboratively with patient / family and healthcare team. Uses appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes. Evaluates and documents patient progress throughout shift. Modifies care plan based on patient condition changes. Completes required documentation including patient chart and event reports. Demonstrates professional accountability and seeks resources for self-development. Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting. Maintains current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. Promotes professional development of self and team members. Shares clinical knowledge through informal teaching. Demonstrates problem-solving for patient moving and handling issues. Promotes patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment. Obtains lab specimens and performs bedside lab testing with quality control. Coordinates interdisciplinary care through collaboration and resource utilization. Analyzes clinical situations systematically and acts to meet patient needs. Recognizes need for assistance and utilizes resources timely. Assumes assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management. Prioritizes work based on patient condition and assignment changes. Utilizes team resources to solve problems or needs. Collaborates in organizing tasks and activities from admission to discharge. Delegates tasks and activities appropriately. Provides goal-focused shift report. Advocates with physicians on patient's behalf when necessary. Utilizes communication and teamwork strategies for high team performance. Chooses appropriate communication style and gives / accepts constructive feedback. Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to patient's / family's age-specific needs. Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois (implied by state and specialty). Knowledge and skills in critical care nursing, specifically cardiovascular intensive care. Ability to perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans. Competence in evidence-based nursing practice and clinical documentation. Technical proficiency with medical equipment and lab specimen collection. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritize and manage complex patient care assignments. Specialty : Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
