Job description

Job Summary : The Senior SBA Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and underwriting SBA loan applications to ensure compliance with SBA guidelines and company policies. This role involves analyzing financial statements, assessing creditworthiness, and making informed lending decisions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SBA lending, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of SBA regulations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Review and analyze SBA loan applications, financial statements, and credit reports.
  • Ensure all loan packages comply with SBA guidelines and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence and risk assessment for each loan application.
  • Prepare detailed credit memorandums and present recommendations to the credit committee.
  • Collaborate with loan officers, credit analysts, and other stakeholders to gather necessary documentation and information.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SBA regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in SBA underwriting or commercial lending.
  • In-depth knowledge of SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs.
  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • 85,000 to $95,000 per year annual salary.
