Summary :

Accurately determine the patient and payment information from an insurance EOB and post the correct data to patient accounts. Willingness to work independently or in a team environment and adapt to a fast paced environment

Requirements :

High School Diploma or GED

Two years medical experience and / or related educational training

Must possess advanced data entry skills

Business Math

Job Duties :

• Ability to read and possess an advanced understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s).
• Receive and sort the mail by separating the insurance payment into assigned control group batches.
• Set up lockbox.
• Post patient payment from insurance EOB’s to patient accounts using assigned control groups.
• Record payment information into the cash receipts ledger.
• Set up, run insurance credit card payments then post to patient accounts.
• Post all payments received in an accurate and timely manner.
• Prepares and reviews receipt summaries to ensure accurate posting.
• Reconciles receipt summaries against treasury batch headers.
• Forwards all unidentified payments and / or identified overpayments to Collections team with related documentation for appropriate handling.
• Posts all zero EOB (deductibles) in accordance with departmental policy and procedure. Identifies denied charges as indicated by EOB’s and make appropriate documentation in the billing system.
• Ability to process and post ERA payment files
• Forwards documentation to the correspondence specialist / biller for appropriate handling.

Skills :

Accuracy and detail oriented

Ability to read and advanced understanding of EOB’s

10-key by touch

Physical Demands :

Lifting up to 10 pounds without assistance

Ability to sit at a desk with brief periods of less than 10 minutes standing at copier
