NEU Patient Care Tech Co-op

Reporting to a registered nurse, this person is someone enrolled in a University's Co-op program and seeking additional hands-on experience. Training, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by an Accountable Nurse Leader to the department. This co op starts on January 5th, 2026 and ends on June 26th, 2026.Job Description : Essential Responsibilities : Provides basic supportive care to patients including specific treatments and procedures related to Activities of Daily Living.Develops and maintains competencies as delegated by a registered nurse including sterile dressing changes.Collaborates with nursing staff to determine patient care plans.Reports all patient activity to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.Required Qualifications : High School diploma or GED required.0-1 years related work experience required.Patient care experience required through any of the following areas : CNA, MA, EMT, PCT certificate or completion of BIDMC in-house training program or Allied Health, Pre Med, and Physician Assistant candidates or Home Health Aide experience.Enrolled in a University's Co-op program.Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.Competencies : Decision Making : Ability to make decisions that are based on specific instructions, standard practices and established procedures which generally require little or no supervision.Problem Solving : Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements.Independence of Action : Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided. Work is monitored by supervisor / manager.Written Communications : Ability to read, and write in English in order to understand basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively with patients, families and other medical center staff; and respond to basic questions.Oral Communications : Ability to understand spoken English in order to follow basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families and medical center staff in response to routine questions.Knowledge : Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Pay Range : $19.00 - $19.00The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
