Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant will be essential in ensuring the financial stability of Shriver Job Corps by supervising key accounting functions. This includes managing accounts payable, payroll, bank and relevant account reconciliations, accruals, and various other financial responsibilities. Manages the center's financial accounting systems in compliance with company, center, and government requirements. Ensures systems, processes, and deliverables are established and executed accurately and timely. Analyzes systems and data, using proper judgment and discretion, to resolve issues and problems. Ensures effective finance services are delivered to staff and students. Maintains and develops adequate controls to prevent and avoid fraud and abuse. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Manages center financial, payroll, and accounts payable systems, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the product. Interviews and recommends for hire, trains, motivates, develops, and disciplines to ensure effective performance of direct report staff.
Responsibilities include following all integrity guidelines and procedures, ensuring compliance with company, center, and government requirements, supervising the performance and activities of finance / accounting department staff members, implementing and managing internal controls to ensure the integrity and safeguarding of the center's financial activities, ensuring efficient, accurate, and timely management of the job corps student pay systems and processes, assisting the director team with budget planning, developing and managing by providing accurate, timely, and complete financial data, filling staff vacancies in a timely manner, and maintaining adequate systems and controls to prevent theft, fraud, and abuse.
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting or associated business field, two years of accounting experience, with a focus in accounts payable, bank reconciliation, accruals, and general ledger maintenance, two years of supervisory experience, strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting, proficiency with Microsoft Excel, strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both staff and students. Must successfully pass the company accounting assessment test.
