Join Woodwell Climate's Risk & Resilience Program as a Business Systems Analyst (BSA), an exceptional opportunity to pivot a highly credible, $35M climate science and policy non-profit at a critical juncture in the financial world. As the team's Business Systems Analyst, you will help lead and launch a Science-as-a-Service (ScaaS) strategy with full agency to commercialize our deep scientific insight. Key initiatives include : immediately scaling our in-development Climate Impacts Mapping Tool (ScaaS / API) via subscription; establishing a consulting niche that applies asset-level data to solve complex financial challenges; and developing a globally recognized Climate Risk Certification for CFAs to set market standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong strategic & financial acumen, business development & partnership skills.
Responsibilities include but not limited to :
- Lead the organizational pivot from climate risk analytics data provider to strategic knowledge partner and standard-setter
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates user needs to create systems solutions that support overall business strategies
- Act as liaison between SDLC team and users and have both business and technical expertise
- Define and execute the Science-as-a-Service strategy, identifying and pursuing strategic partners, such as reinsurance, private markets, municipal finance, and utilities.
- Evaluates use cases and client needs to develop configurations that support business processes
- Prepares and delivers product demonstrations to prospects, customers, and decision makers within organizations.
- Maintains current product information and liaises with implementation teams to develop solutions and strategies for a successful deployment
- Documents systems requirements
- Provide post-sales support and information to resolve customer problems
- Provides training and end-user support during and after the implementation process
- Develop and execute a market plan for an open-source Climate Impacts Mapping Tool (ScaaS / API), defining competitive pricing tiers, user experience requirements, and client-facing documentation to drive subscription revenue growth
- Provides training and end-user support during and after the implementation process
- Identify and validate a specific, high-value consulting niche, designing standardized scopes of work and leading anchor pilot engagements that translate asset-level peril data into financially actionable advice (e.g., CapEx planning, insurance premium modeling).
- Lead the development and launch of the Climate Risk Certification program for CFAs. This includes drafting the Curriculum Body of Knowledge (BoK), defining the certification structure, and recruiting an external Vetting Panel for neutrality and credibility
- Construct and manage the financial model that integrates fee-for-service revenue (ScaaS and Consulting) with grant funding, demonstrating a clear path to organizational scale and long-term financial sustainability
- Communicate strategic plans and pilot results to the executive team, board members, and high-level external partners and regulators.
- Schedule own work and lead project implementation, coordinating closely with internal scientific and technical teams to ensure commercial viability
- Author and co-author associated strategic publications, presentations, and technical documents to establish the organization as a standard-setter and thought leader.
Must Have the Following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Experience documenting system requirements, defines scope and objectives, and creates system specifications that drive system development and implementationProven track record of strategic, analytical roles such as Business Systems Analyst, Management Consultant, Investment Banking / Private Equity Associate, or Strategy / Product Manager in the FinTech / ClimateTech spaceAdvanced ability to conduct market segmentation, competitive analysis, and financial modeling (e.g., revenue forecasting, LTV analysis, business case development)Demonstrated capability in identifying, engaging, and structuring value-based partnerships with sophisticated financial or public sector institutionsFamiliarity with software commercialization, including pricing strategy, user needs definition, and go-to-market planning for ScaaS or API productsExceptional ability to translate complex, scientific outputs (climate perils, scenarios, scientific papers) into clear, concise, and quantified financial and business risk insights for non-scientific audiencesDemonstrated ability to execute with minimal supervision, define project priorities, manage multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously, and thrive in an environment of high autonomyKnowledge of the global financial market structure (e.g., CFA standards, TCFD, portfolio valuation, credit risk modeling) is essentialGeospatial literacy and basic Python / R (or similar) is strongly preferredAbility to travel up to 15% annually for partner engagement and industry events.Qualifications :

Classification and Compensation : This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, the annual salary range is $85,000 - 92,000 dependent on qualifications / experience. Woodwell offers a generous benefits package and work life balance.
