Job Description :

The IR Medical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of our outpatient center. You will support doctors and patients through various patient care management, organization, and communication tasks. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality, and in a timely manner.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Interview patients and document basic medical history.
  • Take vitals and document findings in the patient chart.
  • Organize, authorize, and schedule appointments for referrals.
  • Send prescriptions electronically or by fax. Verbally call-in prescriptions
  • Assist during medical examinations.
  • Triage patient calls, assess the problem, and consult with the physician.
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms.
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
  • Make Pre-op calls to the patient one week prior to the procedure explaining pre-operative instructions.
  • Assist the front desk with patient chart prep, scheduling, and phone calls if needed.
  • Help unpack inventory that has been delivered and help put it away.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or one year of Medical Assistant experience in a medical clinic is preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years of customer service preferred.
  • Minimum 1- 2 years of front office experience in a medical setting preferred.
  • Associate Degree in medical field preferred.
  • Knowledge, Competencies & Skills :

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Outstanding judgment, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Flexibility, problem-solving, and team attitude.
  • Proficient with computer software, Microsoft Office Suite, database, and typing skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and patient-first attitude.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Physical Requirements for the Job :

  • Must be able to listen, sit, stand, bend, stoop, twist, and walk throughout the day.
  • Frequently lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Must be in good physical condition to maneuver patients when necessary.
