Clinician I – Full Time

About the Role
The Clinician I provides specialized crisis intervention and short-term case management services to adults and older adults experiencing acute behavioral health crises. The goal of this position is to support client stabilization within the least restrictive setting through recovery-focused, trauma-informed care.
Services may include crisis counseling, treatment planning, resource linkage, development of natural supports, advocacy, follow-up, and facilitation of individual and group sessions. The Clinician I works as part of a multidisciplinary team in a facility-based treatment milieu and provides backup support to other team members as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Meet with clients 1 : 1 to provide active listening, therapeutic intervention, and goal-directed support.
Conduct brief, solution-focused sessions to assess needs, promote stabilization, and strengthen coping strategies.
Utilize trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and motivational interviewing techniques to build rapport and support treatment goals.
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordination and continuity of care.
Conduct risk assessments and develop individualized safety and recovery plans with clients as appropriate.
Deliver clinically appropriate interventions including counseling, crisis stabilization, and case management services.
Facilitate group sessions focused on education, coping, and skill-building for identified clients.
Complete all required documentation and charting accurately, within agency and regulatory timelines.
Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and case consultations.
Maintain compliance with agency policies, trainings, and certification requirements.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, professionalism, and adherence to Compass Health standards of care.
Safeguard client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Compass Health’s privacy policies.
Demonstrate respect for diversity and uphold trauma-informed and culturally competent care practices.

What You Bring
BA / BS / BSW degree in a Behavioral Science-related field required.
Meets qualifications as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) per WAC preferred.
Knowledge and experience with Evidence-Based Practices , or willingness and ability to learn.
Current First Aid & CPR certification , or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Individuals who do not already hold a license or associate license through the Washington State Department of Health must submit an Agency Affiliated Counselor application upon hire and be approved by DOH.

Ability to work effectively with clients who present with complex needs and multi-system involvement.
Strong problem-solving and de-escalation skills; maintains a calm, solution-focused demeanor in crisis situations.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Proficient in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and general computer use.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check , which may include a DSHS search.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
The position is based in a Triage Facility and may involve participation in crisis management or de-escalation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 20 pounds and is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and use close vision. The noise level in the environment is typically moderate to loud.
