Job Description

Senior Accountant – Public Accounting (Omaha, NE)

Join a firm where your work matters — and your life outside of work does, too.

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established Omaha CPA firm, is looking to add a Senior Accountant to their growing team. This is an opportunity for a public accounting professional who enjoys tax work but is ready for a better balance — more flexibility, more impact, and a clear path to partnership.

You’ll collaborate directly with firm leadership and clients, taking ownership of projects rather than getting lost in a large firm hierarchy. The ideal candidate brings experience in individual and business taxation, strong technical acumen, and a desire to grow into a leadership role.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns
  • Advise clients on tax strategies, planning, and compliance
  • Assist with year-end financials, compilations, and other accounting services
  • Build long-term client relationships through proactive communication and trusted guidance
  • Mentor junior staff and help shape firm processes and best practices
  • Work closely with partners on firm strategy, client management, and growth initiatives

What Makes This Firm Different

Working in a smaller firm environment means you’re not just a number — you’re part of the decision-making table. This is an opportunity to grow your career and your life at the same time.

  • True Work-Life Balance : Enjoy flexibility with your schedule and manageable busy seasons that still allow time for family and personal life.
  • Partnership Track : The firm is intentional about mentoring the next generation of leaders — with a clear, achievable path to partnership.
  • Direct Client Exposure : Work closely with business owners and decision-makers from day one.
  • Professional Growth : Hands-on experience across a diverse client base — gain broader exposure than you might at a larger regional firm.
  • Supportive Culture : Collaborative team, low bureaucracy, and leaders who care about your success both professionally and personally.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s in Tax or CPA certification preferred)
  • 4+ years of public accounting experience, primarily in tax
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and compliance
  • Excellent communication, organization, and client service skills
  • Desire to grow within a firm and contribute to its long-term success
  • Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and annual bonus potential
  • Flexible work schedule and hybrid options
  • Paid time off, holidays, and generous busy season hours policies
  • Continuing education and CPA support
  • Long-term equity and partnership opportunities
