About The Position

Job Title : Virtual Monitor Technician

Certifications : BLS, Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (must pass prior to position acceptance)

Must-Have : Graduation from an accredited program including EKG Interpretation

Description :

This complex position is responsible for performing remote surveillance for multiple locations focused on cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station.

The technician is required to recognize, record, and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established standards and procedures.

Work is primarily performed in a centralized monitoring unit under the direction of a registered nurse.

Each technician can monitor up to 60 patients due to advanced IT technology capabilities.

The incumbent will accurately recognize cardiac rhythms and follow the command center policy.

The technician is expected to take appropriate actions and notify local nursing staff of changes in cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias.

Proper communication channels must be followed when handling routine and emergency situations in accordance with established protocols and procedures.

Awareness of patient outcomes and striving to improve department metrics is necessary.

Supervisors and directors are available for support.

The incumbent may have the opportunity to cross-train to other roles as needed.

Business casual dress code is maintained within the department.

Weekend shifts are required, with a commitment to working four weekend shifts within a schedule.

Holidays may also be required.

No call or standby requirement, although it may occur if census drops.

The charting system utilized is EPIC or CERNER.
