- During down time you will assist in prep / cooking.
- 2 years Cooking experience is required.
- Various shifts from 6 : 00am-2 : 30pm.
- 5 days variable.
- The pay range is $16.00 - $17.00 per hour.
Job Summary
The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and decorating a variety of baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, and other items, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction. The focus here at Kirkwood by the River is dessert the Residents like and request. Building a good relationship with the Residents is paramount to the success of this position / job.
Key Responsibilities
Baking & Preparation :
Measure and weigh ingredients accurately according to established recipes and production schedules.Mix, knead, roll, cut, and shape dough or batter for various products.Operate and monitor ovens, mixers, blenders, and other baking equipment safely and effectively.Monitor the baking process, adjusting oven temperatures or item positioning as needed to ensure consistent quality.Develop and test new recipes for seasonal items or menu updates.Finishing & Presentation :
Decorate finished products, including applying glazes, icing, fillings, and various toppings.Ensure all baked goods are visually appealing and meet presentation standard.Inventory & Ordering :
Monitor and manage inventory levels of ingredients and supplies.Place orders for new stock in a timely manner, minimizing waste and spoilage.Quality & Safety :
Conduct quality checks on raw materials and finished products.Adhere to all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., maintaining a clean and organized work area, cleaning equipment and utensils).Customer Service (especially in Senior Living settings) :
Greet customers, answer questions about products, and take custom orders.Process customer payments and ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.Cleaning Assignment
Proper cleaning of station / work area, equipment after and assisting with general overall housekeeping of kitchen area, reach-ins, walk-ins and storage rooms.Other Daily Cleaning duties as assigned by Chef and Management.Other Duties
All staff members are also responsible for other duties or tasks that are assigned by the Managers, Chef (s) or Supervisors, as a part of any “Job” or “Position” assigned during a normal work schedule. Team members may be assigned to support the meal production, service and cleaning after the meal or the dining facility.During slaw times you will assist cooks / Chef in prep work.Qualifications and Requirement
Education / Certification :
High school diploma or equivalent (may be preferred).A certificate or diploma in baking, pastry arts, or culinary arts is often a plus.Food Handler's Certificate or equivalent sanitation training may be required.Experience :
Proven experience as a baker, baker's assistant, or in a similar role (e.g., 1-3 years is common).Experience with high-volume production is beneficial for some roles.Skills & Abilities :
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and methods.Proficiency in reading and accurately following recipes.Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Basic math skills for measuring and scaling recipes.Creativity and artistic ability for decorating and product development.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Requirements :
