Job description

FHI 360 is a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position ofProgram Officer II, Health Programs. It is a remote position, and the selected candidate will be expected to work on US East Coast time.

This position will be open for applications until 11 : 59pm EDT on Sunday, October 12th.

Job Summary :

Primarily responsible for providing project management support in the Health Programs (HP) department. The HP department manages projects spanning over 60 countries addressing HIV / AIDS, global health security (GHS), maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH), tuberculosis (TB), malaria and nutrition. Work closely with the Health Programs leadership team to support the execution of HP's management structure. They will collect, compile, and analyze information relevant to projects across the HP portfolio. They will monitor the progress of indirect-funded activities and ensure compliance with internal regulations. Will support the gathering, synthesis, and dissemination of information for routine and ad hoc requests, and collaborate with leadership and other HP staff to create compelling and high-quality summaries of HP achievements. Will also provide program management support to the HP portfolio of projects to ensure program excellence. Lastly, will support the implementation of routine internal HP communication and other administrative tasks as required.

Accountabilities :

Supports cross-sector collaboration to develop and monitor an overarching technical and management framework in line with FHI 360's vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Supports the establishment of processes and systems for portfolio management oversight (risk management, technical quality, project management systems, etc.)

Tracks performance of indirect-funded activities in HP against budgets, timelines, objectives, and deliverables. Promotes relevant results and achievements.

Synthesizes existing information and data into an overarching summary of progress on funded and approved indirect activities across the HP portfolio.

Tracks trends and collects more sophisticated data.

Supports coordination of HP cross-cutting activities (e.g. monthly technical webinar series, meetings, etc.).

Supports management of HP internal communication and information sharing platforms (e.g. HP SharePoint site, HP staff meetings, note taking)

Provides support to management, delivers presentations, and supports meetings.

May conduct new hire onboarding on FHI 360 procedures and administrative processes.

Participates in meetings and events outside of HP to represent HP work and priorities .

May serve as a mentor to colleagues across HP .

Responds to a variety of programmatic, administrative and logistics needs and requirements generated from senior management (e.g., procurement planning and support, consultant support, travel planning, meeting planning).

Develops basic surveys and polls targeting internal FHI 360 audience.

Utilizes Microsoft Suite software, including Power BI, and other basic survey and data platforms to collect, manage, and analyze information.

Support the ad hoc gathering and synthesis of information as requested by HP senior leadership.

Applied Knowledge & Skills :

Full understanding of project / project management concepts and practices.

Basic knowledge of the qualitative and quantitative survey methodologies and analysis.

Ability to multi-task and handle a large work volume in a timely manner

Ability to initiate, prioritize, and implement activities with minimal oversight

Excellent organizational skills, meticulous, and pays attention to detail

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures with project design.

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; fluency in a second language desirable (French, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.).

Strong and demonstrated project / project management skills.

Ability to problem solve and implement corrective action as needed.

Ability to prepare reports and provide information to management in a timely matter.

Articulate, professional, and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with funder and staff.

Problem Solving & Impact :

Works on problems of diverse scope that require review of various factors.

Uses cost benefit / risk assessment with selecting methods and techniques to determine appropriate action.

Builds productive working relationships internally and externally.

Supervision Given / Received :

Receives little instruction on routine work. Receives methods and procedures on new projects or assignments.

May provide guidance to other lower-level personnel.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent

  • Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, the Environment, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth or a related field.

Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.

Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.

Prior work on US Government-funded projects strongly preferred.

International or Domestic (US) Program Development or Program management preferred.

Typical Physical Demands :

Typical office environment.

Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift or move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used :

Computer / Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype / Zoom / Teams), cell phone / mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

Survey platforms (e.g. Microsoft Forms, SurveyMonkey)

Travel Requirements :

Less than 10%

The expected US Based hiring salary range for this role is listed below. FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to : relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.

Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 7 % of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours / week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.

US Based Hiring Salary Range : USD $64,000 - $76,000 annually

International hiring ranges will differ based on location
