Department & Research Focus
Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine Department of Neurology has a rich tradition in academic neurology with a national reputation in neurological education and neuroscience research. The department is located in the IU Health Neuroscience Center, a state‑of‑the‑art outpatient center that unites all specialties involved with nervous system disorders. It is also the home of the main outpatient Neurophysiology laboratory at IU Health. The adjoining IU School of Medicine Neurosciences Research Building enables collaboration among clinicians, basic scientists, and clinician‑scientists.
The epilepsy laboratory of Makram Obeid, MD investigates mechanisms of seizure emergence and their effects on cognitive and behavioral neurodevelopment in rodent models. The Obeid Lab focuses on investigating mechanisms of epileptogenesis in immature animal seizure models with the goal of identifying molecular targets for novel treatment strategies. The laboratory employs a variety of electrophysiological, behavioral, and molecular techniques.

Physical Requirements
The role requires the ability to effectively communicate, move around the work environment, manipulate laboratory equipment, move objects up to 25 pounds, and occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.
