Job descriptionPerform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel and gas-powered vehicles, hydraulic systems, and equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment. Conduct DOT and fleet safety inspections and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company standards. Respond to road service calls and perform emergency repairs as needed. Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time logged using a fleet maintenance system. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) services per schedule and manufacturer guidelines. Troubleshoot and repair complex vehicle issues with minimal supervision. Assist in maintaining inventory of parts, tools, and supplies. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Collaborate with drivers and operations personnel to report and resolve equipment issues. High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet technician, or similar role. Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brakes, and transmissions. Experience with waste industry trucks (front loaders, rear loaders, roll-offs) is highly preferred. Valid driver's license (CDL preferred or ability to obtain one). Basic computer skills for work order entry and diagnostics. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
