Responsibilities

Assist the Meat & Seafood Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
Responsible for ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Meat & Seafood team.
Effectively coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
Lead and develop a team that delivers the finest quality product, the highest level of service, and the best customer experience.
Assist in hiring, teaching, training, and developing the Meat & Seafood team.
Use your knowledge of weekly ad items to assist with inventory and ordering; enforce and follow department practices regarding receiving, stocking, and unloading of product to ensure freshness and quality; perform and follow our "Clean as You Go" and "Fresh at 4" programs.
Unload and sort through store deliveries, operate, and maintain meat & seafood equipment.
Ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and verifies that team members comply with these procedures.

Qualifications

Be at least 18 years of age and possess basic math, weight, and measure skills.

Have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience, proven leadership experience, and 2–3 years of grocery retail experience in a Meat department.

Be dependable, reliable, and able to perform related duties as assigned.

Possess an outgoing, friendly demeanor, a positive attitude, and strong customer interaction skills.

Be able to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Have good communication skills and the ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.

Perform general housekeeping : clean and sanitize the department, including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, and freezer.

Adhere to all safety, health, and weight-and-measure regulations and company recipes.

Be capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously and working 8 hours per shift, walking up to 2 miles in 8 hours.

Be able to work inside a temperature–controlled area and maintain general housekeeping standards.

Possess good vision for using sharp knives, band saws, grinders, sausage makers, box cutters, wrapping machines, and tenderizers.

Be able to lift / carry products between 25 and 90 lbs horizontally or vertically over distances ranging from 4 to 60 inches for up to 10 hours.

Use a pallet jack to move pallets up to 500 lbs horizontally, with a force of up to 85 lbs over a distance of 100 feet for up to 5 hours.

Move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs horizontally, with a force up to 25 lbs, over a distance of 50 feet for up to 10 hours.

Move tables weighing up to 70 lbs, with a force greater than 35 lbs, over a distance of 2 feet for up to 1 hour.
