Job Summary :
The Senior Buyer plays a key role in managing the procurement of raw materials, packaging, coatings, and other essential supplies to support production demands and business growth. This position is responsible for securing materials at competitive costs while ensuring quality, reliability, and timeliness. The Senior Buyer works closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to maintain an efficient, cost-effective supply chain that aligns with operational and strategic objectives.
Job Duties :
Manage material requirements using MRP tools to identify and address inventory gaps or excesses.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring delivery schedules support production timelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and prevent stockouts or overstocks across assigned material categories.
- Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues and return-to-vendor claims.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure performance in cost, quality, and delivery.
- Partner with Sales, R&D, Planning, and customers to support sourcing for new product development.
- Conduct supplier and plant visits to validate product quality and supply chain reliability.
- Participate in commercialization meetings and customer calls to ensure material readiness for new launches.
- Collaborate with Finance on monthly purchase price variance (PPV) reporting and quarterly pricing updates.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without impacting product quality or service levels.
- Track procurement performance metrics and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support process improvements to streamline purchasing, reduce lead times, and enhance vendor performance.
- Maintain a strong understanding of plant processes and material usage to ensure sourcing decisions support production continuity.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management.Strong understanding of supply chain operations, logistics, and inventory management principles.Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.Demonstrated negotiation and vendor management experience.Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities across teams and levels.Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.Proficient with MRP / ERP systems and inventory management tools.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
