Overview

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Librarian with the Berkeley Public Library! In this role, you will have the opportunity to have a leadership role within the Teen Services division under the supervision of the Supervising Librarian, coordinate system-wide teen (ages 13 to 18) outreach programming, purchase items for the Teen collections, and assist in budget development.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs and reviews the work of professional and support staff as assigned to the specific program area;
• Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for assigned program;
• Develops, coordinates and implements system wide, ongoing programs in such areas as information and referral and cataloging resources;
• Performs studies and makes recommendations for improved service delivery;
• May participate in staff meetings and acts as a liaison between library management and branch staff in assigned area;
• Develops activity budget requirements;
• Serves on various library committees, both within and outside the library and collaborates with library management staff in service assessments;
• Coordinates and provides specialized reader's advisory / reference services to patrons and branches;
• Conducts system wide event planning and coordinates outreach and promotional efforts for assigned activity;
• May act as the lead professional in collection development and classification of materials and services;
• May represent the Library in meetings with the public, citizens groups and other agencies;
• Performs related work as assigned.
