Responsibilities Work in a hospital's Med / Surg Tele oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients Primary patient diagnoses include all subtypes of solid tumor cancers such as breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer, as well as patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy Ratio goal is 1 : 4 patients, with a maximum of 1 : 5 Requires a mix of day and night 12-hour shifts, with schedules subject to change based on departmental needs Variable weekend coverage based on unit requirements Uses EPIC electronic charting system Floating to other Med / Surg Oncology units required Self-scheduling requests are considered prior to posting finalized schedules Daily responsibilities include caring for oncology patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, and transition to end-of-life care Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention First week of orientation is Monday to Friday dayshift, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Former employees are eligible to return after six months away Current employees at Ohio State University hospitals are not eligible for travel positions Fingerprinting for Ohio compliance must be completed promptly after contract signature Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers Scheduling requests for time off must be included at the application stage Requirements Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of application Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Minimum of 2 years of relevant RN experience required Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation required Previous oncology experience preferred but not required ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred Previous travel experience preferred Two professional references required, including at least one from a supervisor or higher Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-640894.
