Job Summary
The Construction Inspector, Project Services (Staffing - Technician III) plays a critical role in supporting Corning Optical Communications' (COC) fiber optic projects across Scranton, PA and surrounding areas. This position ensures outside plant (OSP) construction quality, safety compliance, and accurate progress tracking for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) installations. The role requires on-site presence, daily travel within the region, and diligent reporting using digital tools. The Construction Inspector directly impacts project success by maintaining high standards in field operations and vendor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and accurately report daily vendor activities and production via Sitetracker mobile system
- Review and interpret FTTX project drawings and specifications
- Monitor fiber optic plant construction to ensure compliance with customer guidelines and manufacturer standards
- Visit job sites to evaluate construction progress and address project or customer concerns
- Direct contractor activities when necessary to maintain project timelines and standards
- Support material inventory and consumption tracking as required
- Enforce and adhere to all relevant safety rules and practices
- Inspect ongoing and completed work for quality using checklists and digital documentation
- Ensure all OSP construction meets customer and industry specifications
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
