Experience Host / Barista for Teabowl (West Village) and Silence Please (Lower Manhattan) .
You’ll make high-quality matcha / tea drinks, host guests, and help maintain a calm, design-driven environment that connects tea, sound, and deep listening. The role blends barista work, light retail, and studio / gallery hosting, with involvement in occasional events and brand experiences. Ideal for someone with hospitality experience who cares about detail, ambiance, and thoughtful, slow-paced spaces.
We’re hiring an Experience Host / Barista to be the welcoming face of Teabowl , our matcha bar in the West Village, and to occasionally support Silence Please , our hi-fi listening studio in Lower Manhattan. This is a hybrid role that blends specialty beverage work, hosting, and light studio / gallery support. The person in this role will be responsible for preparing high-quality matcha, hojicha, and other simple drinks to a consistent standard, while maintaining a calm, design-focused atmosphere that reflects the broader Silence Please / Teabowl universe.
Day to day, this person will open and close the bar, set the tone of the space (lights, sound, music, overall vibe), and greet guests in a way that feels warm but not pushy. They’ll keep the bar and surrounding areas immaculate, manage basic restocking and small prep tasks, and serve as a light storyteller—able to explain what Teabowl is, how we approach matcha, and how the tea concept connects to Silence Please and deep listening. On some days or evenings, they may also support listening sessions, small events, and brand activations, helping with simple setup, hosting, and breakdown.
We’re looking for someone with 1–2+ years of hospitality or customer-facing experience (tea, coffee, café, gallery, hotel, or similar) who genuinely enjoys caring for people and spaces. They should be comfortable reading a room—knowing when to engage and when to let people have a quiet, solo moment. Attention to detail is key : how drinks are made and presented, how objects are handled, and how the environment feels over the course of a shift. Curiosity about sound, music, design, or ritual is a big plus; we don’t need an expert, but we want someone who is excited to learn and represent the brands thoughtfully.
The role is in-person in NYC , split primarily at Teabowl (West Village) with some time at Silence Please (Lower Manhattan). Availability for weekends and occasional evenings is important, especially around events. Compensation will be an hourly rate or salary depending on experience, with tips where applicable, and the role has room to grow as Teabowl and Silence Please expand into more events, collaborations, and product launches.
