There's never been a better or more exciting time to become a BMC nurse.\n\nPosition : Registered Nurse\n\nLocation : M6W\n\nSchedule : 36 Hours (Days / Nights)\n\nABOUT THE Medical Surgical / 6 West DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER : \n\n6 West is a 36 bed medical unit caring for geriatrics, cardiology, and Med / Surge and CCU team general medical patients. 6 West cares for patients on Flolan & Remodulin. These medications are used in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension and Raynaud's disease. Patients receiving these medications are cared for on 6West as nurses receive specialized training in these medications and pumps. 6W is a designated unit for the Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders (NICHE) program. The NICHE model is the premiere national geriatric nursing program that addresses the needs of hospitalized older adults. NICHE works to ensure that adults age 65 and over receive care that promotes function, autonomy, and dignity. They are the leading nurse-driven program designed to address the complex needs of older adults. www.nicheprogram.org\n\nPOSITION SUMMARY : \n\nAs an RN in the Medical Surgical, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.\n\nJOB RESPONSIBILITIES : \n

• Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients\n
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families\n
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues\n
• Update and manage patient records\n
• Enter and interpret computerized data / information\n
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC's nursing organization\n
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects\n\nJOB REQUIREMENTS : \n
• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.\n
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred\n
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)\n
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units\n
• Nursing degree : Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years\n
• Relevant clinical experience and / or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas\n
• Effective verbal and written communication skills\n
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities\n
• Basic computer proficiency\n
