What You'll Do

• Core Estimating Functions

• Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC, refrigeration, and VRF systems

• Analyze construction documents, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope and pricing

• Conduct quantity take-offs and assign material and labor costs using current market data

• Lead estimating efforts on assigned bids, meeting deadlines and client expectations

• Track and analyze bid results to refine future estimates and improve win rates

• Collaboration & Client Relations

• Attend client meetings and help prepare formal bid proposals

• Collaborate with project management and design teams for seamless coordination

• Build and maintain strong vendor, subcontractor, and client relationships

• Conduct bid follow-ups to gather client feedback and finalize project awards

• Support business development with proposal assistance and presentations

• Value Engineering & Optimization

  • Engage in value engineering and cost-benefit analysis to optimize pricing

  • Solicit, evaluate, and select subcontractor proposals.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure estimates align with execution plans

What You Must Have

• Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of mechanical/HVAC/R estimating experience

  • Must have BOTH HVAC AND estimating experience (non-negotiable)

  • Familiarity with commercial mechanical projects

  • Solid understanding of HVAC/R components, systems, and construction practices

• Technical Proficiency

• Ability to read and interpret MEP construction documents and plans

• Proficient in estimating and construction software:

• Trimble (preferred)

• Bluebeam

• QuoteSoft

• Microsoft Excel

• Experience with projects ranging from tenant fit-outs to large-scale mechanical systems

• Knowledge of local and national building codes and industry standards

• Professional Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously
  • Strong relationship-building skills with an outgoing personality
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy is paramount

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

• Previous use of Trimble estimating software
