Position Overview :
The Senior Controls Engineer supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of process control systems (including electrical, mechanical, and chemical control devices) for Gopher Resource’s manufacturing operations. They will be involved with forecasting project work. They will be involved in the programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical devices such as PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs. The Controls Engineer will also be involved in the creation and modification of electrical drawings and control circuits.
Critical Success Criteria :
- Collaborate with internal customers to define scope of requests and forecast controls engineering time to complete
- Ensure smooth execution of controls projects, leveraging strong relationships with stakeholders to understand the needs of the site and manage project quality, schedule, cost
- Verify control standards are implemented across the enterprise, working directly with site controls, electrical, and contractors from design through commissioning
- Support multiple site operations by executing high priority controls projects as assigned
Responsibilities :
Assist with the specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of new instrumentation and control equipmentLead and implement control systems upgrade and improvement projectsApply engineering, procurement, and construction concepts to create and manage simplified critical path logic networksEvaluate project status against baseline schedules and assesses the impact of changes or delays in design or constructionEffectively communicate project plans, timing, and status to project teams and other key stakeholdersRegularly meet with site stakeholders to understand new project requests, document scope, and forecast controls resourcingWith the Controls Manager, maintain long range forecast model used in weekly resource steering meetingsPerform detailed review of control system design and configuration documentationMaintain all panel and electrical drawings to ensure they are currentAbility to provide immediate support for the siteRespond to emergency and service calls that occur outside normal working hoursCollaborate with Controls team to transfer technical knowledge and experienceAbility to collaborate with different sites teams as a controls SMETechnical Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from accredited College or University7+ years of previous work experience overseeing enterprise-wide control system designs, capital projects, and implementation of new process designs in continuous, discrete, and batch manufacturing environmentsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Ethernet networks, and serversExtensive development experience with Aveva System Platform (Wonderware) or similar SCADA systemsExtensive development experience with FactoryTalk View ME or similar HMI programming softwarePrevious development experience with process automation systems using Rockwell Logix / Studio family of softwarePrevious experience with PLC networks (Ethernet / IP, Modbus RTU and TCP / IP)Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD softwarePrevious experience with testing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and debugging software systemsFunctioning knowledge of electrical and electronic systemsAbility to design new control panels as needed - direct / assist electricians with new and existing installations and upgradesUnderstands schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder diagrams, one-line diagrams, and front-end engineering and design documents (P&IDs, PFDs)Additional Requirements :

Salary Range : $107,159.62 to $176,713.06. This position is also eligible for a short-term incentive plan which is determined by the achievement of strategic objectives. The market rate for the role is typically at the midpoint of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as candidate qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
