Overview
As the U.S. team lead for In-Space Manufacturing (ISM), you will drive the next frontier of space manufacturing design and production techniques. From concept ideation to hands-on prototyping, ground testing, and in-orbit demonstration, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space structures and hardware. This role collaborates closely with Dcubed's Munich-based ISM teams while focusing on expanding ISM products for the U.S. market. Responsibilities
Lead the development of US-based in-space manufacturing (ISM) technologiesProvide team leadership to a multidisciplinary technical team to design, build, test and fly ISM products and printer technologiesUtilize your experience in structures and mechanisms, mechatronics composites, and / or polymer extrusion to directly develop new designs as both an individual contributor and technical managerSupport solar array, antenna, and mission development teams by collaborating on interface and performance requirements and their subsequent verificationManage interfaces between subsystemsMaintain technical budgets for the systemPrepare technical documentation and participate in stakeholders' meetingsQualifications
BS / MS / PhD degree in Engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, materials or a related subject)8+ years of experience leading design and development of advanced structures and mechanisms, advanced manufacturing technologies, or related topicsEnthusiasm in being hands-on with rapid prototyping and flight hardware buildsExperience with spaceflight hardware and environments – you've designed and / or built hardware that's been to spaceComfortable with performing back-of-the-napkin calculations and analyses to validate design conceptsCAD is your second languageNice to Have
Experience with structural analysis and testDirect experience in design for additive manufacturing with an emphasis on extruded polymers and / or reinforced fibersTest fixture design experienceEligibility
