PGS Worldwide is hiring a Technical Scribe Contractor in Anniston, AL for a 7-month contract-to-hire opportunity. This role supports the development and improvement of military technical documentation by reviewing, editing, and verifying operator, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures for accuracy, logic, and compliance with MIL-STD requirements.
Required Skills
- 2-3 years of technical writing experience , preferably in a military or defense environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Experience reviewing and commenting on technical procedures for clarity and compliance
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and document management tools
- Working knowledge of military vehicles , publications, and MIL-STD-40051 standards
- Analytical ability to simplify complex technical information for multiple audiences
- Excellent organizational skills for maintaining records, version control, and documentation accuracy
Preferred Skills
5+ years of technical writing experience in a defense-related industryIn-depth knowledge of military documentation standards (MIL-STD-40051, MIL-HDBK-1222)Experience writing or editing technical manuals, repair manuals, and training materialsFamiliarity with military systems (ground vehicles, aircraft, or naval systems)Possession of a current or prior security clearance (Secret preferred)Professional certification in technical writing (CPTC, CWNP, or equivalent)Prior MOS 91P, 91H, 91M, or 91A background strongly preferredResponsibilities
Review and comment on drafted Operator, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting procedures for technical accuracy and completenessEnsure documentation meets MIL-STD compliance and aligns with functionality, logic, and usability expectationsAnalyze complex technical data and translate it into clear, concise instructions for end usersCollaborate with engineers, maintainers, and other technical experts to ensure information accuracyVerify that documents conform to government and internal quality standardsRecommend revisions or process improvements for clarity and complianceMaintain organized documentation records and version historiesSupport continuous improvement initiatives for military documentation standards and processesEducation & Certifications
