Chipton-Ross is seeking a Civil / Structural Engineer 3 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE) :
o 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. Steel, wood, and concrete design courses; Pier or related structural design experience; Experience with pier, mechanical, or naval architecture design.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.
The Civil / Structural Engineer position provides technical oversight for various structural and mechanical systems on piers. The Structural Engineer will be required to develop a cohesive working relationship with system operators and maintenance personnel. The candidate should have knowledge of structural design and engineering.
The candidate's day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
