About The Position

Must-Have : ICU experience, ability to titrate drips, travel experience

Description :

The unit has 18 beds, with plans to expand to 27 by mid-2023.

Ratios are typically 1 nurse to 2 patients, sometimes 3 in overflow or stepdown situations.

The required certifications include BLS and ACLS.

Preferred certifications are PALS and TNCC.

The patient population includes critically ill patients with complex needs and life-threatening conditions.

Common diagnoses include sepsis, acute myocardial infarction, renal issues, and strokes.

Nurses will manage invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring.

Experience with CRRT and IABP is preferred, as well as 2 years of critical care experience.

Travel experience is required; no travel duos will be accepted.

Nurses are expected to titrate drips, including Levophed, Cardizem, and Insulin.

There is a charge nurse primarily without patients and a house supervisor available 24 / 7.

There are no nurse aides on the unit.

Hospitalists are present 24 / 7, though intensivists may not always be available.

Respiratory therapy is not stationed in the ICU but is readily available as needed.

Common equipment includes BiPap, Cpap, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, and IV pumps.

Telemetry is available, and RNs are responsible for reading strips.

Scheduling consists of rotating shifts, with weekend requirements every other weekend.

Holidays are also rotational, following core staff.

Floating to stepdown is required; if not needed there, nurses may float to med-surg or telemetry.

Nurses will take full loads of 5-6 patients when floated.

Scrubs must be solid colors with no patterns or embroidery, and closed-toed shoes are required.

An abbreviated initial skills checklist will be due within 90 days of the start date.

The charting system in use is EPIC.

A BSN is not required for this position.
