Groundskeeper
Performs duties particular to and normally required in the trade of groundskeeping, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work. Essential functions include :
- 90% - Groundskeeping
- Mowing, watering, weeding, seeding fertilizing, refuse collection in areas assigned.
- Operate power mowers and associated lawn equipment in the maintenance of hedges, shrubs, trees, and lawns.
- Maintain automatic sprinkler systems.
- Maintain streets by patching asphalt, installing and maintaining pavers, operating jackhammers, and pouring concrete.
- Operate trucks, vans, backhoe, snowplows, and other heavy equipment.
- Apply chemicals and fertilizers on lawns, trees, and shrubs.
- Perform general labor and maintenance duties in support of the Maintenance Division during the off-season.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, roadways, plazas, and steps.

Educational requirement : High School Diploma or GED.
Years of related experience requirement : 3 years. In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.
Certifications and / or licensures : Valid Drivers License with good driving history WSDA Pesticide License, or required to get license within 1 year of employment.
Skills & abilities :
Ability to problem solve individually or in a team setting.Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks individually or in a team setting.Proven ability to work individually and as part of a team.Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues with landscape equipment / machinery.Knowledge of the safe use and disposal of chemicals like fertilizers and herbicides.Preferred qualifications :
Experience with commercial landscape equipment including industrial mowers, weed-wackers, backpack blowers, power edgers, power pruners, pole saws, etc.Known knowledge of common landscape pests, diseases, and blights.Known knowledge of turf, shrub, tree, and flower varietals.Experience with snow removal equipment / machinery.Experience with heavy machinery including but not limited to; backhoe, tractors, skid steer, loaders, and lifts of varying sizes, etc.Physical & on-campus requirements :
In-office presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues : 5 days / week.Standing / sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period : Daily (>75% of time).
Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks : Daily (>75% of time).
