The Emergency Department (ED) has undergone a renovation to better meet the needs of our patients and staff. The ED staff care for patients of all ages, supporting the needs of our diverse community.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Roles And Responsibilities
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the care and management of patients during their visit. The LPN will perform professional clinical duties including but not limited to care, treatment, documentation, education, and medication administration to assure safe patient care for the Behavioral Health patients in the Emergency Department (ED).
- Care for patients during their ED visit, examination, procedure, and / or treatment in accordance with established policies.
- Educate patients in regard to care within the scope of standards of care of nursing practice.
- Document patient information in the electronic medical record as necessary.
- Assist physicians and licensed providers with medical and surgical procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Collection, labeling, and processing of specimens. Perform point of care testing.
- Maintain a high quality and safe patient care and staff environment by preparing care area for patients, and work area for staff.
- Understand, respect, and demonstrate patient confidentiality in all endeavors.
- Under the orders of a physician or licensed provider, administer oral or injectable medications.
- Under the orders of a physician or licensed provider, administer treatments; provide care for wounds; and other physical needs.
- Participates in continuing education to maintain current nursing standards for patient care and education, within skill and scope of practice as required by regulations of the Commonwealth.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Graduate of an approved practical nursing programLicensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Licensed Practical Nurse.Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers completion.Preferred
One-two years of successful working in an acute or rehabilitation setting as a Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.Meditech experience preferred.Working at Signature Healthcare
