Job Title : Pharmacy Technician
Location : Federal Detention Center, SeaTac, WA
Schedule : Full-time, Monday–Friday, 6 : 00 a.m. – 2 : 00 p.m. (excluding Federal Holidays) paid 30-minute lunch
Compensation : $28 - $34
Position Summary :
The Federal Detention Center in SeaTac, WA is seeking a certified and experienced Pharmacy Technician to support its Health Services Department. This role involves providing professional pharmacy services in a correctional healthcare setting, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities :
- Interpret prescriptions and prepare medications in correct dosage and form.
- Deliver medications securely to patient areas.
- Repackage medications and maintain documentation.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment.
- Review prescriptions for technical accuracy after pharmacist approval.
- Respond to drug distribution inquiries and identify basic therapeutic issues.
- Monitor and restock medication inventory in patient care areas.
- Provide patient education on pharmacy-related topics.
- Handle controlled substances in accordance with regulations.
- Perform additional technical or clerical duties as needed.
Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program (ASHP, ACPE, PTCB, U.S. Armed Forces, or RCW 18.64A.020 compliant).Active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification from the State of Washington.Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.Current CPR certification.Two professional letters of reference.Experience in a correctional environment preferred but not required.Additional Requirements :
Must pass a drug screening, background check and credit screening prior to hireMust be free of communicable diseases and may be required to undergo TB or other health screenings.Must comply with institutional security protocols and maintain professional conduct at all times.Must wear appropriate professional attire (scrubs permitted; no open-toed shoes or revealing clothing).Work Environment & Physical Demands :
Primarily standing and walking; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.Frequent, unsupervised contact with inmates; must maintain professional boundaries.Must adhere to all safety, privacy, and institutional regulations.
