We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Rehabilitation Unit team. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from spinal cord injuries (SCI), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and other complex medical conditions requiring long-term rehabilitation. This role requires strong clinical judgment, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to motivate and support patients throughout their recovery journey. Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and complex rehabilitation needs.
- Perform ongoing assessments, plan and implement individualized care, and evaluate patient progress toward recovery goals.
- Collaborate closely with physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as physicians and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate holistic rehabilitation plans.
- Monitor and manage patients with mechanical ventilation and complex medical equipment.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while ensuring patient safety and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Educate patients and families on disease management, rehabilitation techniques, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic medical record systems.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Support patients emotionally and physically throughout the rehabilitation process to foster independence and confidence.
- Uphold hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection control standards at all times. Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, including care for patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).
- Mechanical ventilation experience required.
- Prior Medical-Surgical nursing experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and patient advocacy skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- EPIC electronic documentation experience highly preferred. Education : Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – Required Required Certifications & Licensure
- Registered Nurse (RN) – Current and valid New York State License (in good standing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
