Description
The Regional Controller – West will oversee the accounting and financial operations of portfolio companies within the western U.S. region. This role ensures timely, accurate financial reporting, enforces internal controls, and supports both local leadership and the Group Controller. The Regional Controller will play a key role in integration of new acquisitions, financial planning, and ensuring consistency of accounting policies across the region.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong technical accounting expertise, management of multi-entity operations, and effective cross-functional collaboration with U.S. and India-based teams.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Oversight
- Lead accounting operations for multiple portfolio companies in the western US region.
- Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Act as primary finance liaison for regional operating leadership.
Team Collaboration
Partner closely with Shield’s U.S.-based Finance team to align on accounting and reporting priorities.Coordinate with portfolio company Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely information flow.Work with the India shared services team on AP, AR, billing, close activities, and reconciliations.Collaborate with operations, HR, and executive leadership to provide financial insights that support decision-making.Month-End Close & Reporting
Oversee and review general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.Deliver timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages with help from the FP&A team.Provide variance analysis and insights to management.Acquisition Integration
Partner with the Accounting Integration Manager to onboard new acquisitions.Standardize accounting practices and reporting processes across entities.Support system migrations and chart of accounts alignment.Process Improvement & Controls
Strengthen regional internal controls and financial procedures.Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.Support audit readiness and compliance efforts.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and multi-entity consolidations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, PE-backed environment.Accountability, ownership, and a continuous learning mindset.Preferred qualifications :
Prior MSP or IT services industry experience.Exposure to private equity-backed M&A.Familiarity with ASC 606, ASC 805, and ASC 842.Demonstrated success working with offshore / shared service accounting teams.Proficiency with NetSuite or similar ERPsExperience with Ramp or similar AP platforms.Other tools used include Notion, FloQast, and ChatGPT.Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a four-year college or universityCPA license (active or inactive) strongly preferred7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 in a Controller or Regional Controller role.Prior experience managing multi-entity accounting operations.Experience supporting acquisition integrations and financial system transitions.
