Job Title : Physical Therapist
Job Specialty : Physical Therapy

Shift : 8-hour day shift, 7 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM
Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week
Experience : Previous experience providing direct patient care in outpatient, inpatient, or inpatient rehab unit preferred. Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
License : Physical Therapist license in state of employment or from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
Certifications : Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required.
Must-Have : Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy required. Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy preferred.
Job Description :
- Evaluate patients referred to physical therapy by completing initial evaluations according to department protocols.
- Apply appropriate diagnostic and prognostic testing for musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.
- Use standardized testing to determine the level of disability and track outcomes over the patient care experience.
- Perform evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address the unique rehabilitation needs of each patient.
- Establish treatment plans with measurable goals and time frames in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including discharge planning.
- Select and implement therapy activities per the plan of care to ensure that goals are met.
- Recognize individual limitations and capabilities, utilizing available resources effectively.
- Evaluate patients' learning styles and teach them skills and techniques required for participation in physical therapy.
- Consult with other rehabilitation team members to select the most appropriate activities and programs based on patients' needs and capabilities.
- Reassess and modify treatment plans as necessary based on patients' current level of function and make appropriate recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians concerning physical medicine and rehabilitation services while respecting confidentiality.
- Document all patient care activities, including evaluations, progress notes, and detailed treatment records, per standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate the preparation of patient schedules, billing charges, and other reports by completing documentation per policy.
- Utilize correct grammar, approved abbreviations, and medical terminology in all documentation.
- Participate in professional development by attending department in-services, meetings, and sharing professional expertise for staff development.
- Assist in training physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students and other hospital personnel.
- Act as a resource for new staff members by sharing information and providing education.
- Adhere to the professional code of ethics and all accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements.
- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, and staffing needs through priority setting and flexibility.
- Demonstrate flexibility by floating to other areas or sites and agree to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours when necessary.
