Full-Time Youth Services / Outreach Librarian - Moorestown Public Library

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic librarian to join our youth services team. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, have outstanding communication skills, have experience designing and implementing creative programming, and possess the ability to answer a variety of reference and reader’s advisory questions with enthusiasm.

Duties include :

• Providing reference and readers advisory services for children, teens, and adults.
• Purchasing and maintaining portions of the Youth Services collection.
• Maintaining genre and theme-based recommended reading lists for the juvenile and teen collections.
• Planning and presenting weekly programs for infants and toddlers and their caregivers.
• Planning and presenting special events for children and teens.
• With the Department Head, developing and implementing a yearly plan for Outreach Services that includes visits to public schools, private schools, preschools, childcare centers, and camps.
• Working with staff across departments to coordinate the library’s ongoing participation in community events and exploring new avenues for outreach.
• In partnership with other staff, coordinating signature library events such as the Local Author Fest, Comic Fest, and the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten celebration.

Hours : 35 hours per week including some Saturdays.

Required qualifications : a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and a New Jersey Professional Librarian certificate or the ability to obtain one.

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.

This position provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary range is $58,000-$62,000 depending on experience.
