The Loan Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting functions related to the Bank’s loan portfolio ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across a growing platform. This role is both strategic and hands-on , ideal for a seasoned banking professional who has successfully managed loan accounting functions and is ready to build and develop their own team as the Bank continues to expand.
This individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Bank’s loan-related financial data, leading process improvement initiatives, and collaborating closely with Loan Operations, Credit Administration, and Finance to ensure a scalable and efficient loan accounting infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead all aspects of loan accounting operations , including reconciliation, accruals, amortizations, and financial reporting for commercial, CRE, SBA, and consumer loan portfolios.
- Build, lead, and mentor a loan accounting team , fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, and collaboration across departments.
- Ensure accurate and timely general ledger reconciliations , subledger balancing , and interest income recognition in compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for the loan portfolio, ensuring data integrity and timeliness of reporting.
- Develop and enhance loan accounting policies and procedures to support operational scalability and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a key point of contact for auditors , regulators , and internal audit regarding loan accounting activities and documentation.
- Partner with leadership to evaluate and implement system enhancements or automation initiatives to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy.
- Provide analytical insight into loan portfolio trends, yield, and interest income to support management decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Credit Administration, and Loan Operations to ensure end-to-end consistency and data integrity across systems.
- Play an active role in strategic projects , system integrations, and process improvement efforts as the Bank scales.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.10–15 years of progressive experience in banking , with a minimum of 5–7 years in loan accounting or loan financial reporting.Proven track record of managing and developing teams , including the ability to build new functions or departments within a growing organization.Strong understanding of GAAP , Call Report requirements, and loan accounting standards (e.g., FASB 91 / 114 / 118).Experience with core banking systems (Jack Henry, FIS, nCino, or similar) and accounting software (Sage Intacct, Great Plains, etc.).Demonstrated ability to manage complex reconciliations, automate manual workflows, and strengthen internal controls.Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and executive levels.Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.Ability to travel to various sites as required by the role.Position Type :
This position is a full-time, exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm.
