The focus is primarily on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. The staffing ratio goal is 1 : 4, but may be 1 : 5 depending on unit needs. Variable weekend shifts will be based on unit requirements. No set or blocked scheduling; self-scheduling requests will be accepted. Orientation will include a first week of days with a preceptor. There is a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols. Additional responsibilities include patient falls prevention. Experience with computerized charting systems is required. Familiarity with monitoring equipment and specialized procedures is essential. Interdisciplinary support is available through multiple services.
