About The Position

Job Title : Med / Surg Nurse

Profession : Registered Nurse

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : Active Registered Nurse license in Wyoming

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, and PALS (must be current and from the American Heart Association)

Must-Have : Must attach certifications and license to submission

Description :

Med / Surg Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles.

In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Med / Surg Nurses include consults and coordination with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Prepare and administer prescribed medications and record them accurately.

Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments according to established policies.

Educate patients on surgical procedures.

Record patients' medical information and vital signs.

Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients and interpret and record electronic displays.

Initiate corrective action whenever a patient displays adverse symptoms.

Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients.

Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physicians.

Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury by explaining post-treatment home care needs.

Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.

Prepare equipment and assist physicians during patient examinations and treatments.

Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols.

Participate in discharge planning.

Utilize time management skills.

Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner.

Perform other position-related duties as assigned, depending on the assignment setting.
