Job description

Since 1917, Globe Machine has been a manufacturer of industrial machines, systems, and plants for advanced composites, building products, and pulp & paper.

If you're mechanically inclined, passionate about robotics and automation, and eager to work hands-on with some of the most advanced FANUC and other robotics systems in the industry, this is the opportunity for you. You'll join a team of innovators and problem-solvers, programming, assembling, and maintaining robots that power the future of manufacturing.

This position is based in Tacoma, WA, and offers hands-on exposure to FANUC robot integration, PLC programming, and the full project lifecycle - from assembly through field commissioning. The role includes 30–50% global travel to support installations, testing, and customer site activities.

What You'll Do

  • Program and integrate FANUC and other robots and PLCs for custom automation systems.
  • Assemble robotic components, subassemblies, and systems per mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Support end-to-end machine builds, from shop floor assembly through customer on-site field commissioning.
  • Interpret and follow technical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly documentation.
  • Collaborate with Controls Engineers and Project Managers to test and install fully integrated systems.
  • Participate in on-site installation, system startup, and customer training.
  • Troubleshoot and repair robotic systems and automation equipment in the field.
  • Contribute to the development of installation plans, documentation, and system sequencing.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in line with Globe standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience with FANUC robot programming, troubleshooting, or maintenance strongly desired
  • Proficiency with PLC programming and other machine control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Mechanical assembly or automation equipment experience is a strong plus
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a desire to learn in a dynamic, hands-on environment
  • Valid driver's license, and ability to obtain a U.S. passport and TWIC card
  • All employees of Globe MUST be able to pass a drug test and background check. Our industry is "safety sensitive" and we do require a negative cannabis drug screen as well.
