American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool position with night shifts requiring at least one year of recent MS / SD experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Position is in the Float Pool of a hospital setting
  • Primary work is with med / surg and stepdown patient populations
  • Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Requires flexibility to rotate holidays and work every other weekend
  • No block scheduling is offered
  • Preceptor and charge nurse skills are preferred
  • Provide nursing care to a variety of patients with conditions from simple to complex
  • Actively document patient responses and report changes in physician orders
  • Assist physicians with exams and minor diagnostic procedures
  • Administer medications and manage IV infusions and blood products as prescribed
  • Interact with patients and families to share care plans and facilitate discharge education
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff members
  • Must participate in holiday rotation as assigned
  • Return applicants must complete a 6-month separation before reapplying if over 26 weeks of employment

    • Requirements

  • Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current compact RN license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Minimum of one year recent experience in a med / surg or stepdown setting
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • ICU experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility address; no local candidates accepted
