Pathology Assistant – Contract Opportunity
Start Dates : 11 / 3, 11 / 17, 12 / 1, 12 / 8, 12 / 15 (No flexibility on start dates)
Location : Within 100-mile radius required
Schedule : No 48-hour guarantee | No blocked scheduling requests | Max 5 days RTO
System : Epic EMR – Proficiency and recent usage required
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s DegreeCertified Pathology Assistant (PA)2+ years of relevant pathology experienceRecent Epic EMR usage (must demonstrate proficiency)Able to perform complex grossing of tissue specimens and frozen sectionsMust attend orientation on assigned start date (no flexibility)Key Responsibilities :
Specimen Processing :
Perform gross examination of surgical, biopsy, and cytology specimensIncludes dictation, dissection, tissue sectioning for microscopic analysis
Conduct intraoperative consultations, including frozen sectionsAccurately accession and label specimens; photograph as requiredAssist in autopsies and maintain accurate, legible documentationTraining & Collaboration :
Train pathology technicians and histotechnologists in surgical and grossing techniquesDevelop and track training programsWork cross-functionally with IT, nursing, ancillary services, and physiciansPathology Information System Oversight :
Manage and train staff on pathology and diagnostic systemsCollaborate on system integration, maintenance, and upgradesEnsure compliance with regulatory and QA / QC standardsMaintain digital pathology tools including slide scanning and remote viewing systemsQuality & Improvement Initiatives :
Participate in QA / QC audits, Tumor Board meetings, and Pathology Department goalsContribute to continuous improvement projects and diagnostic accuracyHelp design workflows with a focus on patient safetyAdditional Notes :
Must reside within a 100-mile radius of the facilityMust commit to required training and orientation schedulesNo special scheduling accommodations (i.e., no blocked days or extended RTO beyond 5 days)About Talent4Health
