Description
To provide an examination and preliminary diagnosis of individuals who are the subject of a mental hygiene proceeding (respondent), with the goal of determining if they suffer from mental illness and / or addiction, and whether they present an immediate danger to themselves or others. This evaluation will be presented at a mental hygiene hearing and will function as a recommendation to the court as to the disposition of the respondent. The MH Examiner will also be a member of the crisis team working on-call as needed. This position will also act as a therapist when needed to help develop, review, and approve consumer treatment plans, attending IDT Meetings as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Ability to travel to designated locations of examination and to testify at the respective hearing thereafter.
- Maintain availability for designated on-call periods to provide examinations at short notice.
- Timely completion of documentation as required by Valley, Medicaid, OSHA, and other licensing agencies.
- Provision of on-site clinical evaluation of respondent.
- Assure that the safety, health, and well-being of consumers are always maintained on or off site.
- Participate in Consumer IDT meetings, assisting in the development, review, and approval of consumer treatment plans in the residential and outpatient divisions
- As a member of the Residential Consumer's Treatment Team, explain Outpatient services and community resources to consumers for continuity of care as consumers transition out of residential treatment
- Work on-call as scheduled as a member of the Crisis Team
- Complete clinical assessments as assigned.
- Adhere to all agency, state, and federal compliance standards.
- Monitor, maintain and use appropriately, all equipment and supplies.
- Attend in-service training's and mandated meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
LICSW or Licensed PsychologistAbility to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and MANDT Certifications.Ability to comply with Consumer's Rights and Mandatory Reporting Requirements.Ability to comply with all agency and departmental safety procedures.Ability to read, write, understand and speak the English language.Ability to complete Mental Hygiene Petitions & Attend Hearings as neededAbility to use E-Mail and Possess Basic Computer SkillsAbility to use Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to document service provisionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience in Crisis Intervention workExperience working in the Mental Health fieldKnowledge of current commitment lawsKnowledge of community resources for behavioral health problems including mental illness, substance abuse, and intellectual / developmental disabilities.
