Pattern Maker (Metal) In Simple Terms
This job is for someone who creates the original molds and patterns used to make metal parts. These patterns help shape metal when it's cast in a factory. You'll be working on the first shift (6 AM 2 : 30 PM) in Syracuse, NY , earning about $35 / hour .
What You Will Do (In Plain Language)
- Make metal molds and patterns : You'll build and shape the forms that factories use to create metal parts.
- Work with many tools and machines : You'll use both hand tools and machine tools, including CNC machines.
- Use computers to program machines : You'll use software like SolidWorks and MasterCam to design or program how machines cut or shape materials.
- Shape and finish metal by hand : This includes polishing, smoothing, fitting, and fine-detail work.
- Put together complex parts : You'll assemble mold components by following engineering drawings and sometimes figuring out missing dimensions on your own.
- Check accuracy : You'll measure your work carefully to make sure everything is exactly right.
- Spot problems : If a drawing or design has mistakes, you're expected to notice them and inform the right people.
- Do basic maintenance on your equipment (cleaning, oiling, tightening parts, etc.)
What You Need to Qualify
At least 4 years of experience making metal patterns (more is even better).Experience using SolidWorks and MasterCam (computer modeling and CNC programming tools).Experience setting up and running CNC machines .High school diploma or GED .Must already be allowed to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship is available).Bonus Skills
These aren't required but are very helpful :
Experience in improving or creating pattern-making methods.Strong mechanical skills and the ability to measure very precisely.Ability to solve problems with machines or measurements independently.
