Water Technician

The Water Technician performs duties in the operation and maintenance of the water infrastructure system. It also performs a vital service for the community by working with a crew repairing water mains and maintaining and replacing valves, hydrants, and meters throughout the City. A Water Technician may also assist with the operation and maintenance of water pumping stations and water storage tanks. No experience is necessary for our Water Technician I position.
The starting salary for this position is $26.24 to $33.61 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Further increases to the top of the range, which is up to $38.65 for the Water Technician II, will be based on performance. Work Schedule : Monday through Friday : 7 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 00 p.m., with paid lunch. Some required overtime; mainly during the winter season.

Receive supervision from the Water Supervisors, Water Superintendent, or other authorized personnel.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arm, climb to perform work in manholes or pits. The employee is frequently required to bend, squat, stoop or perform work in tight places or a confined space. The employee must consistently lift and / or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds frequently and 80 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, far vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employees must be able to work long consecutive hours as required by the nature of the emergency. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
