DESCRIPTION

Applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, policies, and procedures to support the Department of Radiology's academic personnel activities. Provides guidance to faculty, supervisors, and department leadership on a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity, ensuring actions align with established policies and practices.

Under the direction of the Director of Academic Affairs and in collaboration with the Academic Resource Center (ARC), the Academic HR Analyst 2 assists with academic personnel processes for the department. The incumbent coordinates and processes academic appointments, merits and promotions, recruitments, and onboarding actions, ensuring timely and accurate submission of complete files. Responsibilities include drafting job descriptions, placing advertisements, managing AP Data actions, and monitoring compliance with Academic Affirmative Action requirements. The analyst also supports the Director of Academic Affairs and ARC in preparing documentation for MSP contracts and Voluntary, Non-Salaried (VONS) appointment renewals.

The position requires strong analytical and organizational skills to review and apply academic policies and procedures. The incumbent interprets UC-wide, campus, and Health Sciences policies to provide guidance and information to faculty and department administrators. Offers clarification on processes and requirements for the academic review cycle and related actions.

Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information. Provides feedback on processes and contributes to the development of departmental procedures to support consistency and efficiency. This role also serves as backup to the Director of Academic Affairs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Six years of related experience, education / training, OR an Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience / training.

Working knowledge of academic personnel and affirmative action policies and procedures, with the ability to explain requirements and guide faculty and staff through related processes. Strong communication skills to ensure clarity, understanding, and compliance in personnel matters.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated skill in prioritizing tasks, adapting to frequent interruptions, and meeting established deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working knowledge of University academic personnel policies, procedures, and regulations, including recruitment, appointment, merit, promotion, and reappointment. Ability to interpret and apply these policies accurately to ensure proper documentation and compliance with institutional requirements.

Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.

Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies.

Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management.

Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills.

Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.

Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Must be willing and able to travel.

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Overtime may be required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range : $65,800 - $115,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent : $31.51 - $55.08

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
