ERM is seeking a Technical ConsultingDirector, Engineer (Sediment Site Investigation & Risk Assessment) to join our Pacific Northwest team and lead transformative projects that protect ecosystems and communities. ERM’s Site Investigation and Remediation Management (SI / RM) team tackles the toughest marine and freshwater sediment sites using cutting-edge digital tools and data analytics. As Technical Director, you’ll set the vision, lead high-profile projects, and expand ERM’s influence in the marketplace.

  • Deliver innovative solutions across the contaminated site lifecycle—from investigation to remedy implementation.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 8+ years of experience in sediment site investigation / remediation and remedial design for CERCLA or similar projects.
  • Proven track record managing large, complex sediment projects.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory frameworks and recognized technical expertise.
  • Preferred

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in sediment remediation and CERCLA-style projects.
  • 10+ years managing large-scale sediment programs.
  • Litigation experience related to sediment sites.
  • Established client relationships and business development success.
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Lead feasibility studies, remedial designs, and strategies for sediment remediation sites.
  • Provide strategic advice and technical leadership for complex projects.
  • Collaborate with ERM’s global SI / RM network to share best practices and deliver multidisciplinary solutions.
  • Ensure projects meet scope, budget, and quality standards.
  • Expand ERM’s SI / RM services through business development and proposal leadership.
  • Build and maintain client relationships that drive repeat business and market growth.
  • Support cross-selling of ERM’s broader services, including nature-based solutions.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop technical staff for long-term success.

    For the Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term / flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
