About The Position

Job Title : RN Clinical Nurse

Profession : Registered Nurse

Specialty : Inpatient Pediatric ICU

Duration : 8 weeks

Shift : Night

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience preferred.

License : RN - Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact.

Certifications : BLS - Basic Life Support, PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Must-Have :

Description :

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.

They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high quality and safe patient care.

The RN practices in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders.

The nursing practice framework is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice.

RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values.

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing.

They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.

The RN Clinical Nurse upholds the voice of the patient and system policies and procedures.

They support service excellence goals.

Key Responsibilities Include :

The RN performs the Nursing Process which includes assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

They use analytical and critical thinking to ensure that care is individualized.

Care coordination is achieved through effective partnerships that recognize caring as central to optimal patient outcomes.

The RN provides relationship-based, patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics.

They always partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose.

Patient-centered care is delivered through bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds.

The RN practices using current clinical practice standards.

They manage and oversee care for complex, high acuity, and critical pediatric patients.

Regular assessments and monitoring occur every hour.

Culturally and developmentally appropriate direct clinical care is provided to patients.

The RN has experience in ventilator, BiPAP, CPAP, and oscillator management.

They perform cardiac rhythm assessment and analysis and monitor continuous vitals.

The RN manages and appropriately titrates vasoactive, sedation, and insulin drips.

They run and analyze bedside point-of-care testing.

Assistance with bedside procedures is provided.

The RN supports and / or leads pediatric codes using established algorithms.

Sterile dressing changes are performed as needed.

Teamwork and Collaboration :

The RN coordinates safe quality patient care through timely documentation and inclusive communication.

They participate and support performance improvement initiatives.

The RN serves as a preceptor and mentor for other nurses and healthcare staff.

They promote evidence-based practice and research within nursing.

The RN participates in data collection and utilizes appropriate resources for clinical questions.

Resources and Support :

The RN proactively plans for patient care across the continuum.

They participate in protocol and procedure development to achieve best practice outcomes.

The RN supports the efficient and effective use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Compliance with all policies, standards, and regulations is required.
