Position Overview This role supports emergency healthcare providers by assisting with basic procedures and patient care in a fast-paced emergency department setting. The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) works under the supervision of registered nurses, physician assistants, or physicians to provide care for patients ranging from infants to adults.
Key Responsibilities - Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
- Assist healthcare professionals with simple medical procedures and patient care tasks.
- Provide or assist with splinting, casting, and immobilization of patient extremities.
- Help transport patients within the emergency department as needed.
- Perform daily equipment checks and maintain logs to comply with regulatory standards.
- Support inventory management, including stocking and ordering supplies and equipment (voluntary).
Qualifications - Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting and pushing patients or equipment.
- Preferred: Minimum of 2 years experience working in an emergency department.
Education - High school diploma or GED required.
Certifications - Possession of a current EMT or Paramedic certificate is required upon hire.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider program is mandatory.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- For employees with prior CNA certification hired before 2/4/2020, maintain a minimum of 10 continuing education units annually related to the work.
All candidates must successfully pass a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to employment. This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Pacific Northwest coastal communities.
