Telecom Underground Construction Laborer
Under direction from the Underground Construction Foreman the candidate will perform general labor duties in the field of telecom underground construction such as loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight.
What Will You Do
- Familiar with, and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers / chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand tools
- If qualified, drive to and from job sites throughout the area as well as perform general construction labor at the job site
- Travel required throughout the New England region with the Underground Crew, learning on the job
- Conscientious regarding the safety of him / herself at times as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job site
- Ability to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasks
- Regular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environment
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need
Active Class A CDL desired but not requiredHydraulics IC / 2B Hoisting license a plusOver 21 years of age and possess, and continue to possess a valid driver's license and pass random driver's license screeningsDue to the nature of the job, travel is a requirement; hotels are paid for and employee will be supplied with a per diemOvertime is available every weekPrevious underground utility or communications construction experience a plusShow up for work daily and on time and ability to follow directionsHandle physical demands of construction dutiesAbility to make independent judgment and perform repetitive tasksRegular contact with co-workers and customersWithin 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification; company supplied trainingMust be able to take and pass, and continue to pass a DOT PhysicalKnowledge of materials handling equipment and procedures.Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and proceduresAbility to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.Knowledge of light equipment operation and / or maintenance.Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.Work Environment
Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuouslyAbility to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity.
