Assistant Professor in Computer Science

Job Description:

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in Computer Science (CS), with a research focus on Systems, including but not limited to Operating Systems, Distributed Systems, Embedded Systems, HPC, HW/SW Co-Design, Compilers, Programming Languages, Computer Networks, and Software Defined Radio, starting in the Fall of 2026.

Candidates are expected to have a record of high-quality scholarship and should be able to demonstrate the potential for excellence in both research and teaching. The department values and encourages interdisciplinary research, providing a unique opportunity for collaboration across fields. We also value industry/government experience, recognizing the importance of real-world applications in research, in particular for this position.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold a doctorate in CS or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Successful candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to establish an active research program, and a strong commitment to student success and to UTEP's Access to Excellent Higher Education mission.
